Pink it Out!

It's time to put on your best pink attire, sign up to run (or walk) a marathon and grab your "Save the Boobies" bracelets. Yes, October is here, and Breast Cancer Awareness month is in full swing! During October, breast cancer organizations use the color pink to raise awareness for the disease and remind the public about early detection, causes, diagnosis, treatment, and support for survivors.

Food for Thought: Did you know that one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime?

Not to be Ms. Buzz Kill, but it's important that we, as women, know the facts. Once we are aware we can act to take care of ourselves and our bodies. Even though breast cancer is not 100% preventable due to biological factors, there are several factors that you can control to decrease your chances of getting it, such as postmenopausal obesity, alcohol consumption (two drinks per day can increase cancer risk by 21%) and physical inactivity.

So, save your boobies, her boobies and boobies all over the world this October. Make sure to get active, get tested and get informed.
